How to calculate weighted average grade?

Below are the steps to calculate weighted average grade:

1. Determine Grade and Weight: Determine your grade on each assignment and the weight of the grade.

2. Multiply Grade by Weight: Multiply the grade on the assignment by the grade weight.

3. Add together.

Weighted grade = w₁×g₁+ w₂×g₂+ w₃×g₃+...

Example:

Language course with grade of 85 and weight of 35%.

Science course with grade of 80 and weight of 40%.

History course with grade of 75 and weight of 25%.

The weighted average grade is calculated as:

 = 35%×85 + 40%×80 + 25%×75 = 80.5

When the weights of modules are not in percentage, an additional step is required: divide the weighted sum by the sum of the weights:

Science grade is 90, earned 5 credits

History grade is 75, earned 2 credits
